How many times have we said “Where has this year gone?”.
Personally, it has been a very different year in that this is the end of my first year of retirement from full-time employment. For others like yourself there may also have been some major changes in your life in the past twelve months that have affected you far more than myself.
However, at Christmas time we remember an event that occurred nearly two thousand years ago and that is the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. A baby born in a manger who lived for approximately 33 years on this earth and died on a cruel roman cross. The impact of His life on earth is far more than anyone could have believed.
Why did this event occur? It was because God had planned this in eternity. He would send His son to be born to a virgin, Mary, and to have the name Jesus because “He will save his people from their sins” Matthew Ch1 v21.
We look at the manger and see a baby, a wonderful gift, from the God of heaven not just for Mary and Joseph but for each one of us.
What are we to do with this gift? John Ch3 v16 & 17 tells us “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
This Christmas take time to think of why we celebrate this event and find out more of what Jesus has done for each one of us.
We would be pleased to welcome you at our Christmas Services or at any other time. Details are included in the web page
